Yes — while calculating Basic Earnings Per Share (BEPS), a bonus issue affects the weighted average number of equity shares, but convertible debentures are not included in BEPS unless they have already been converted into equity shares. Treatment: Bonus issue: The number of equity shares is adjusted retrospectively for all periods presented. Convertible debentures: For BEPS, ignore them unless conversion has already taken place. For Diluted EPS (DEPS), convertible debentures are considered because they may convert into equity shares in future. Details of convertible debentures: Convertible debentures are debt instruments that can be converted into equity shares after a specified period and on agreed terms. Until conversion happens, they remain borrowings and not equity shares for BEPS purposes. For accounting, audit, and financial reporting support, businesses often rely on experienced chartered accountant firms in gurgaon. A qualified chartered accountant gurgaon, trusted ca firm in gurgaon, or expert ca in gurgaon can help with EPS calculations and treatment of convertible instruments.
