As per Section 165 of the Companies Act, 2013, a person cannot hold office as director in more than 20 companies at the same time, out of which the maximum number of public companies cannot exceed 10. According to the provisions of the Act, a dormant company is also considered while calculating the total number of companies. However, for the limit of 10 public companies, only public companies are counted, including dormant public companies. Many chartered accountant firms in Gurgaon advise directors to regularly review their directorship positions to avoid non-compliance under Section 165. A professional chartered accountant Gurgaon can help in determining whether a dormant entity falls within the prescribed limit. Businesses and directors often consult a trusted CA firm in Gurgaon or an experienced CA in Gurgaon for proper corporate law and compliance guidance.
